Looks like a great trail. Any plans thar you know of to pave it?
@@marcusrawls2125 Not go my knowledge.
What was the total length of your recovery from surgery until getting cleared to ride?
I really don't have a short answer to that question, particularly as the clearance to ride actually came before what I would describe as full recovery. If you haven't seent it, check out this 4 month after surgery update video. ruclips.net/video/yUtA7Q2VP8U/видео.htmlsi=JWIpOcymyzeceLjd
planning a trip in September, going to take my lectric trike and go around the island, thank you for your video, enjoyed it
We just returned from completing this loop and had a wonderful time. ….couple of observations. The state forest sites require booking online, but if your plans change there is no signal. With the exception of Bunnel Flats we were the only people. The horseflies are brutal,…bring lots of bug spray, Colton Pt State Park is first come, with a cash or check drop box. We were there on 7/23 and the only people there, had signal and the reservation system indicated all sites were booked….? Also, we looked at 7 different campsites at Colton Pt State Park that the tent pad sites were covered in dog feces…it was not fox. The forest roads were the best part….only one vehicle passed us. The paninis at Pag-Omar market were just awesome. The store sign said open at 10am, but the staff let us in at 8:30. Petticoat Junction has hot showers…25 cents for 3 min….4 quarters was plenty of time. They also have a laundromat..and sell soap. Everyone we met was very friendly.
Solid tutorial! Well done!
Well done sampling of the full GAP Trail. It’s a wonderful experience, highly recommend! Nice editing and compilation!
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
@@EdwinRemodo-iq2el Thanks for the kudos.
We will be up there the same time this year and I can’t wait to try this!❤
I have 6-12mths to prepare for this surgery n subcromial decompression I'm petrified having low pain threshold hoping it goes ok at 62 n not that physical fit it will be a challenge with help n physio hoping it releives the pain that I'm in now it brings me to tears trying to keep it somewhat mobile.
That village named CZeh village it sounds to me lot people from the Chech rebublic live in that village it there own community is that right
I think the short answer is yes, but here's more information about the neighborhood and area. www.czechvillagecedarrapids.com/our-story
Those early morning urban explorations are a lot of fun, but not so much with tons of traffic, people and noise pollution... thanks!
Fun video! Lol I have the msr and Sawyer ones here and my msr pumps much faster than this for some reason... It fills half a gallon in 40sec. And I love it!! My msr and Sawyer are my go to on the road 🔥👌
Congrats on the tremendous accomplishment!
Very nice! Short and sweet. Thanks again for a fantastic trip that exceeded my expectations!
Absolutely stunning scenery. I lived in Gaithersburg, MD for years the C&O is so great.
Hello, thank you so much for this informational video it was so wonderful ❤️🙏and prepared me for my rotator cuff surgery in 2 days , also I had a question for you , how soon after surgery did you start the ice machine ?
Same day. Basically, when you get home. Pretty much as soon as the nerve block wears off, you'll be wanting it. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
We love exploring new areas by bike while traveling full-time in our RV! I just rode 40 miles of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, which is 100% gravel and runs 95 miles from St. Johnsbury so Swanton, VT. (longest in New England)... you would love it. From mile 0.0 it climbs 1200' non-stop for the first 18 miles, then downhill until the end. Conversely, if you start from Swanton, VT you'd essentially have a 77 mile climb 😐Enjoy the rest of your trip! We'll be camping near Lexington, KY next spring!
Sounds like I need to put the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail on my bucket list.
Dose anyone know the address to the biggining of this trail???
Depends on which end you are calling the beginning. If you click on this link and then click on "Clinton", it'll show you where we started on the western end. bikekatytrail.com/katy-trail-map.aspx
Beautiful... enjoy your dad i sure miss mine.
My wife is big time into genealogy. We have our roots traced back into the 1600's. As we drive around the country in our RV we always do day trips to find homes and cemeteries. In Iowa we found an old grave and the headstone had been pushed over by delinquents, as were many others. I drove my Jeep right up to the grave, dug under the headstone as it was 10" in he ground (obelisk type), wrapped a recovery strap under it, tied it onto the Jeep and was able to lift the headstone completely back into place, which we promptly cleaned. NOTE: Never use bleach or other chemicals to clean headstones!!! Only use D2 or regular soap and water with a soft brush. Thanks, and great work!
thank you for the great vids and the excellent routes and suggestions. you are a huge resource for those who want to explore these great places scattered across our country. do you have a road ride for the LBL. My wife would prefer to stay off the gravel.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm sorry to say that I do not have a road route to be able to offer you for LBL. I will offer that the easternmost 2-3 miles of the Central Hardwoods Trail is paved and there is paved multiuse trail that extends east of LBL, to the east, I think all the way to Cadiz. The Woodlands Trace National Scenic Byway also runs through the entirety of LBL from North to South. And many of the forest roads in LBL that start with the number 1 are paved. Hope that helps!
I know the story The house would have been on 188th ave just north of the big red barn fyi
@@robhaag6071 Very cool. Thanks!
Did not know about this trail! Thanks
Thanks for this!
I totally want to do that ride. I've heard it's very very crowded on weekends
I wouldn't be at all surprised. We were riding on a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't too bad, but still lots of folks out enjoying the trail.
I have a question for anyone reading this: do you think a folding Brompton bike would do okay on this path? I have any idea to park my car at Blackwell, and tow my kayak up river to Ansonia, then paddle back down river to my car. But the Brompton bike is key, since it folds up small.
Are you asking just about the rail trail or the whole route? Also, what are the width of your tires on the Brompton and what is the tread pattern like?
@KentuckyCycling The tires on it are called Schwalbe Marathon Tire and they measure 35-349 width, according to the site I just looked at. They are the skinny looking ones, and the Brompton bike itself is a smaller framed bicycle. I got this bike when I was trucking around the USA because of its compact size, now I wanna use it to get my kayak up river for solo paddle. On this trip, I would not be doing the upper canyon rim like you did. Just the path along the river, then boat back down to car.
@@KentuckyCycling Here's the tread description from that same site: "A Brompton with our Schwalbe Marathon Tire puts a little extra zing to your commute, will keep you going for longer, and get you there faster. Its LiteSkin sidewall keeps the tire lightweight and nimble, while the Raceguard nylon under the tread gives the tire excellent puncture protection so you can tackle bustling city streets and unpredictable terrain. The reflective strip feature improves rider visibility at night so that you can travel Brompton style anytime, anywhere."
@@solarjinx Those tires are plenty wide for this trail as it's hard-packed crushed limestone.
@@KentuckyCyclingAwesome! Hey, thank you for that. I really enjoyed your video and look forward to doing this trip.
Great way to record your family history, Nathan!!
Thanks, Greg!
Excellent tour of family history!!
Thanks!
This trail is part of my personal history. When I was young we lived in Cook County and occasionally my parents would toss their folding Raleigh bikes and my bike in the trunk and we would head to Chicago for a bike ride. Lots of good memories including the time we met a guy walking his pet skunk.
Did you see The Bike Farmer??
@@davidcrowson4745 I did not. Who is the bike farmer?
I believe he is in Madison Wisconsin... Has a RUclips channel kind of a Bob Ross format of working on bikes.@@KentuckyCycling
@@davidcrowson4745 Cool. I'll have to check it out.
Nice ride thanks for sharing
We were in Chicago last month, and I even had my bike with me, but I didn't get a chance to ride any in Chicago. Hit up some in St. Louis and a section of the Katy Trail, though. Pretty cool.
@@mountainsmoore3657 We love the Katy Trail!
@@KentuckyCycling I was on a Midwest Ag Tour and just threw my bike in to carry along for the trip, just in case. Ended up staying in St Louis, so I rode to the Arch, then one of the farms that I was touring ended up being in Defiance, MO so I took a couple of hours to ride while there. It was neat. Now I want to go back and ride the entire thing. Btw, finally got those Moloko bars. Really liking them so far. I’ve just got about 75 miles on them so far, but plan to add a few more before school starts back up.
@@mountainsmoore3657 Good deal. And glad to hear that the bars are working well for you so far.
Great info. I'm six days in and will definitely look into purchasing an ice machine. Thanks for sharing your experience in such a candid and informative way. All the best for your recovery.
That looked fantastic! Definitely on my bucket list.
Thanks.Bike trails in cities can be surprisingly nice and reasonably safe.
Great views along the way!
That was an excellent bicycling path with excellent scenery! Thank you for taking me with you!
I've ridden that trail before, and it's really quite breathtaking.
Very nice! Thank you for taking me. It was a beautiful ride!
How do I find a map?
There are links to maps in the RUclips video description.
I’ve never been north of Rockmart on the trail 😐
They are in process of extending the trail into the picture postcard town of Wellsboro, PA. Lots of Air B&Bs like Stoneyfork lodge, and small motels like Colton Point Motel along the way.
How many total miles is this and how long did it take
we spend many hours riding those roads in our jeeps. good to see others enjoying it in other forms as well
I was sorry you had dreary weather but thought at least it'll keep the rattlesnakes off the trail. Then a small black snake shows up. Nice compromise.
Fantastic video, very well done thank you sir! I love the Creeper and enjoy riding there yr round and camping more than halfway up - roughing it.😁. I didn't know of the campground past White Top! I'm an old school mt. bike camper w/huge panniers and a bike is at 100lbs loaded - good exercise. But bikepacking looks pretty cool, though. Winter is perfect out there, nothing more beautiful than a fresh snowfall and heading home in the morning...
Thanks for the kudos. Sounds like you've gotten the opportunity to experience the trail in lots of different conditions, each with their own beauty.
I've got a few acres there just off of New Concorde. Planning on building a Zome there later this year and into next year.
Nice review. I'm considering changing my bars. The flat bars get old quick.
Where in KY are you? I used to live around Covington, Newport and Highland Heights while attending NKU. I'm just getting into bikepacking touring and I'm living about 45 minutes north of Cincinnati around Xenia. My first trip I want to do the Erie Trail and I'm just setting up my bike, a Kent Trevaille, that I'm upgrading considerably. Naturehike Cloud up 2 is a great tent. I'm not spending $4-500 on a small tent. Thats just crazy.
Exactly what I was looking for 👍
